How to Harness the Power of Your Subconscious Mind
When you harness the power of your subconscious mind, you move your life in the direction of your dreams.
“The subconscious mind controls 95 percent of how our circumstances manifest and our beliefs shape our lives. The power of the subconscious is about a million times greater than our conscious mind.”
So how can you explain your current life even though you desire to make more money, be successful in business or find that perfect job yet you’re still struggling?
Lipton and other neuroscientists show that most of your decisions, actions, emotions and behavior depend on the 95 percent of brain activity that is beyond your conscious awareness, which means that 95 to 99 percent of your life comes from the programming in your subconscious mind.
Dr. Lipton says the function of the brain is to take your belief systems and manifest a biology based on that belief system.
The conscious mind is not bound by time as you know it and that’s why you can think back to the past or go into the future. The subconscious mind doesn’t see a future or past and only operates in the present moment.
Animals live in this state – the present moment. The subconscious mind runs our body systems and controls the body functions such as walking (we don’t think about how to walk one step at a time – it’s a habit).
You might believe you’re living your life based on your desires yet your conscious mind controls only five percent of your life.
When you aren’t conscious of your thoughts or behavior, your subconscious is operating outside your awareness.
Your life is a reflection of the programs in your mind, and your primary programming shaped your life was formed by age seven.
This is why it’s critical to question the beliefs your family had around money or work if you want to break through to live your life’s desires.
So how do you get your subconscious on board to help you manifest your desires?
Have you had opportunities come your way yet your mind starts parading thoughts such as, “Who do you think you are?” or “You don’t know enough” or worse yet – “You might fail.”
These thoughts are so powerful they will stop you from moving ahead. Many people miss opportunities to advance or make more money in their job or business because they’re not open to the opportunities that are right in front of them.
It’s essential that you become aware of your thoughts. This is the first step in changing your life.
If you live in lack or scarcity around money, you’re planting seeds that will bring you more of that in your life.
Your subconscious mind responds to your thoughts. When you worry or are in a fearful state, your subconscious mind will respond.
To lesson the power of becoming attached emotionally to your thoughts, become the observer of your thoughts.
When you can notice what you’re thinking (if it’s a negative thought), you can decide not to believe your thought, shift it to a better feeling thought and it will no longer have the power over you.
If it’s a belief that you’ve had much of your life, I recommend you question it using The Work of Byron Katie. This process of inquiry opens your mind to what is your truth.
When you say or believe, “I can’t make that kind of money” or “I can’t afford that” these thoughts will play out in your subconscious, and you’ll live this out.
When your subconscious mind brings up a fear, befriend it.
Ask it, what are you trying to tell me? Listen compassionately without judgment to what the fear is saying to you. You can say, “I know you are trying to help me and watch out for me, how are you trying to help me now?”
Look for the wisdom in the fear. Work with your fear and your subconscious mind to help yourself take action to empower yourself.
HOW TO REPROGRAM YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND:
1. The first step is becoming aware of your beliefs and thoughts.
When you begin to feel stress or fear, notice what you are thinking about. I recommend that you use emotional freedom technique (EFT) to start tapping away the fear or stress. Check out this video that I recommend to my clients. I tap when I am stressed to clear my energy.
2. Practice thinking different thoughts.
If your subconscious mind operates out of habitual ways of thinking about and reacting to experiences based on your life experiences, and these patterns of thinking (lack and scarcity) no longer serve you, practice thinking better feeling thoughts.
3. Make powerful declarations of things you want in your life.
Focus on what you desire for your life. Say it in the positive, and repeat it to yourself as often during the day as you can. For example if you want to find an ideal partner, say, “I am happily living with my ideal partner.”
If you want more money say, “I am now attracting abundance in my life” or better yet “I am a money magnet.”
If you want to start a business say, “I am happily working in my ideal business.” When you declare what you want, you’re making a promise to yourself and your subconscious mind will create this in your life. This is how you reprogram your subconscious mind. If you doubt what you declare to yourself, notice and don’t judge yourself, start with a better feeling thought instead. Work your way into believing you can have a prosperous life.
4. Turn your fear around to the opposite and state it as if it’s already realized.
If you want to write, start by saying, “I am a writer.” If you feel fear, ask yourself what am I afraid of around writing? I can relate to this fear, and I would say that it’s vulnerability or the fear of being judged. Ask yourself what am I afraid of here. Notice what comes up without judgment. Befriend your fear. Take tiny steps towards what you want to create in your life.
5. Ask for divine guidance just before you go to bed at night.
If you have an issue or problem in your life that you want to solve, ask for guidance. When your brain is in the relaxed alpha state just before bed or after yoga or meditation, this is the best time to enlist your subconscious mind to help you solve this problem. Any time I do this and wake up “knowing” the answer, I immediately follow this guidance and it has always guided me to what I need to know.
6. Find positive examples of how your desires have been achieved in the past.
Find evidence or proof of the opposite of the fear your subconscious is bringing to you. When was there a time in your life that you accomplished what you desired or close to it? Go back in your life and find examples of how you’ve done something that felt impossible.
Or look to other successful men and women and find out how they’re doing what you want to do. It’s up to you to give your subconscious mind positive directives that align with the goals and values you have in your life. Whatever you think about repeatedly, will become part of your subconscious mind and that will create the emotions of fear, frustration, or anxiety unless they are positive thoughts.
In my money class, Smart Women Make Money, I see how fears around beliefs stop us from getting what we want in our life.
I had a participant in Smart Women Make Money that had a successful business yet she was constantly struggling and broke. It turns out her belief went back to her family – “We just can’t keep any money.” Underneath that belief was the subconscious fear that her friends and family wouldn’t want to be around her if she made more money than they did.
She was subconsciously spending all of her money. Once she was aware of how this fear and belief played out in her life, she was able to manage her behavior and stop spending all of her money.
Make a promise to work with your subconscious and start listening to it. Start practicing these tips above and you’re well on your way to enlisting your subconscious mind to help you get what you desire in your life. When you learn how to access and reprogram your subconscious mind, you will start to bring more happiness, wealth and better health into your life.
