The Three I’s of Wealth Planning – What are Your Goals in Retirement?

 In Money/Wealth

It’s never really too early to have a think about what sort of position you might like to be in when it comes to you retiring. Even if you’re in your early twenties, you may well already have a pension plan through your employer, but as you get closer to the time that you can hang up your work boots for good, it becomes more important to know where you’re headed. Goals are very important indeed, because they give you something to plan for and work towards. Let’s take a look at some of the things you might want to aim for.

Nobody really likes to think about it, but having something to pass on to your loved ones is probably the most important thing for many people when they think about money in later life. It’s not necessarily as straightforward as saving away a pot of money to give to them though. There can be lots of rules and regulations to follow, especially pertaining to taxes, and you need to be fully aware of these when you’re saving money. Sometimes the money you’ve saved as a pension can also be inherited, so it’s good to know exactly where you stand with everything.

Of course, if you’re lucky enough to have planned well ahead and can retire relatively early, you’re going to have many years ahead of you for which you need some form of income. This will usually come in the form of a financial product, which could be an annuity (a monthly sum paid out in exchange for the pension pot you’ve saved) or something else. There are many different options here, and you need to figure out the best way of saving, and the best product to choose to ensure you have the income you want when you’re retired.

For many people, retirement is the first time that they have a large pot of money to play around with, which means that it’s often the first time they seriously think about some kind of investment. If you’ve got some assets ready for inheritance for instance, you’ll want to protect them from inflation, and perhaps even make them work to make you more money.Click here to find out more about wealth planning for retirement – it’s something that you’ll want to get professional advice on.
